Leading the horses to water

“You can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make him drink,” right? Perhaps not.

In terms of web development, SEO, which is largely driven by CONTENT, is the leading the horse part. We actually attract horses more than lead them, but that’s semantics. Your website is the watering hole. The first step is to get some horses to the pond. Writing compelling, original content on a regular basis is the best way to build site traffic (attract horses).

Encouraging the horses to drink is conversion. Of course, it’s easy to meet conversion goals if we get a large herd of horses to the pond. If we want 10 to drink and we get 1,000 to the water’s edge, it’s not hard to reach the goal. Real success is reached, however, when we assemble a herd and get many horses to drink. Bingo!
